Stock Market Simulation 2021

Date: 1st March to 31st March 2021

About: It’s a competition where participants invest virtual money using an online application that simulates the stock market as it is. Here students trade stocks with the sole objective of maximizing their profits under market-index. All the participants will be assigned with play money of Rs 10,00,000 in their portfolio and the one with having maximum money in their portfolio wins.

 

Objective:

  • To make students aware of the stock market arena through virtual trading.
  • To help them analyze and understand the financial and market trends.
  • To make them understand various concepts of the stock market world and how it affects the economy.

Proceedings:

  • It was an online competition for which the DSIJ Stock game application was downloaded by all the participants
  • All the participants were assigned with play money of ₹ 10,00,000 in their portfolio and the one with maximum money in their portfolio at the end of the competition wins.

Outcome:

  • Students will be able to learn how to create a portfolio according to the market conditions.
  • They will be able to learn and manage virtual money through trading virtually.
  • Student’s analytical ability will also increase when they study the market and factors affecting it.
  • They will also learn the fundamentals of a company while buying its stock.

Case in Point

About:

  • A Brand challenge competition where participants get a Business oriented Case study problem on which they have to come up with a solution in the form of presentation and present in front of judges.
  • The Company you are working in is facing a situation (problem statement). Now it's solely up to the participant to turn the company's fortunes around. The task is to come up with solutions and help the company with new strategies and some innovative solutions.

Objective:

  • To provide engineers a plethora of opportunities to showcase their technical skills.
  • To improve the ability of problem-solving.
  • To make them aware of the problems faced in the business world.

Outcome:

  • Participants were able to solve the problem which enhanced their strategic thinking.
  • It boosted their confidence and developed their presentation skills.

Business & Economic Quiz

Date: 30th March 2021

About: An Online quiz competition wherein Questions based on basics, case studies, and current business and economics scenarios were asked.

Objective:

  • To test the knowledge of business and economics of the participants.
  • To build a bridge between academics and industry.
  • To make participants aware of the current trends of the business world.
  • To give them a fun learning experience.

Outcome:

  • Participants tend to read the material.
  • Quick responses resulted in great competitiveness.
  • Easy chance to do well gave a feeling of self-esteem.

Marketing Maestro

Date: 24th March to 31st March 2021

About:  An event where you can show your marketing skills and ideas. Every participant is assigned a product that they have to publicize and market to all the people around you whether you know them or not and gather their votes. The one who gains a maximum number of votes wins the competition. Every participant will be given a common colosseum web page link where all their products list is posted. The colosseum website shows participants’ products as alike and dislikes button count, which is a factor for the result.

Objective:

  • To make the students hone and increase their marketing skills and ideas.
  • To increase the soft skills of the students and make them apply during the competition.
  • To help them brainstorm about the given product and how to publicize it virtually.
  • To make them understand how to market and analyze the given product as per the customers’ needs.

Outcome:

  • Students will be able to market and publicize any given product with ease.
  • They will understand the important aspects which attract the customers most.
  • Students will be able to market the given product to any customers with full confidence.

Startup Formun

Objective:
The Startup Forum was designed to build a strong eco-system that nurtures and motivates innovation and startups in the institution.

  • Outcome:
    • Generation of startup ideas by students.
    • Discussion of ideas with other like-minded students.
    • Getting insight about the flaws and also alternative suggestions for your ideas.
    • Experiential learning from other startups.
  • Proceedings:
    • Students meet fortnightly to discuss on startups or feasible startups with other students.
    • Discussion allows suggestions as well as identification of flaws and corrective measures to help the growth of the ideation.

Personal Productivity Blueprint Workshop

  • Outcome:
    • Students will be able to devise marketing and branding strategies.
    • Students will learn how to make maximum use of a limited resource,
    • The gap between Marketing and Engineering will be reduced significantly.
  • Proceedings:
    • Participants have been assigned a failed brand.
    • They will present the brand with a new marketing strategy and other criteria in the form of a pitch.
    • Judges will question the participants on the basis of the pitch.

Budget Making Competiton

Objective:
Budget Making Competition is a competition which motivated students to use creativity & design thinking skills to develop a budget. This is a competition where participants get a chance to prepare an annual budget for a business.

  • Outcome:
    • Students learn to manage Capital
    • Students learn about various tax parameters for different business
    • Students comes to know how profits are generated in a particular industry/business
    • Students learn to make a budget.
  • Proceedings:
    • Participants are given a question statements regarding a particular business.
    • They will come up with a Budget plan and idea to improve income in their plan as a solution towards the question.
    • Participants then had to pitch their budget paln in front of a panel of Judges
    • Judges will question the participants on the basis of the pitch.

Objective:

Any Body Can Do Entrepreneurship

The course is designed in a manner to convey the fundamental steps that any budding entrepreneur should take to translate it from ideation to execution.This is a course conducted by Navayuvak Entrepreneurs in association with the E-Cell of DBIT.

  • Outcome:
    • They will have their business model and the initial steps of their venture ready in front of them.
    • The lifelong guidance from mentors will ensure their steps on their startup journey is firm.
  • Proceedings
    • The course is designed to teach the fundamentals of entrepreneurship from scratch.
    • 90% of the course was taught with the help of practical cases and applications, the remaining 10% was theoretical.The programme was be conducted by industry experts and veterans who will be lifelong mentors for the participants.

Social Entrepreneurship Competition

Objective:
The event is designed such that the participants have to present an idea which has the potential to help the society and present the financial metrics for the same.
Outcome:
●    Platform to pitch a sustainable idea.
●    Quiz round ensures student’s knowledge on business and startups are tested.
●    Financial Round results in students being able to make financial projections and other metrics, thus rounding them up as an entrepreneur
Proceedings:
●    Presentation of idea.
●    Questions to be asked.
●    Quiz round.
●    Presentation of Financial metrics.
●    Aggregate points will be allocated after every round. Participants with highest aggregate wins.
The Top 3 contestants with the highest points were awarded prizes.

Product Design Workshop

Objective:
To develop an acumen for pre-emptive thinking and innovation in goods and products.
Outcome:
●    Students will be able to adapt and innovate the design to cater and solve real-life problems.
●    Also, with the help of real-life case studies, they will be solve a problem given by the speakers with the help of stationery.
Proceedings:
●    Workshop is split into two halves, the Product Design half and the Entrepreneurship half.
●    In the first half, students will be learning how to and designing products to solve a particular purpose.
●    The second half comprises of application this knowledge in the field of entrepreneurship.

About: Pitch It was the inaugural E-Cell business idea competition followed by a panel discussion with industry experts and self-made entrepreneurs such as Mr. Ranjit Shetty, Mr. Ujawal Andhari and Mr. Venkatesh Prasad amongst others who were kind enough to grace this event and judge the participant's ideas as well.

Innovation and Entrepreneurship Field Visit

Venue: Indian School of Design & Innovation, Lower Parel. (ISDI)

About: Innovation and Entrepreneurship Field Visit was an initiative taken by the E-Cell to give students an exposure to the subject of Innovation via a series of talks and a hands-on workshop conducted by the faculty of ISDI. Around 50 students enrolled and were taken to India Bulls Centre in Lower Parel to the ISDI campus wherein Mr. Amit Kundal, Mr. David Wittenberg and Mr. Omkar Pandharkame conducted the session.
